In 2018, I was at a turning point, searching for purpose and financial freedom. That’s when I remembered my secret sauce: giving! I’d always been the type to give generously, even if it meant sacrificing my own needs.
I had dabbled in gift hampers with a friend, but it was just a side hustle. We were flying blind, with no clear direction, no unique selling point, and no real plan. But I decided to take what came naturally to me, do it with intention, and offer something truly special. The only problem was, I had zero startup capital and zero hope of getting any.
But then, fate smiled on me! I received an unexpected phone call to prepare a report, and just like that, I had my first real capital – ₦100k! And as if that wasn’t enough, my mum received a brief and was paid ₦200k, which she generously handed over to me to kickstart my venture.
With ₦300,000, I made my first bold move – shipping in two unique baskets from China that would eventually make waves. I partnered with an artisan to replicate them, and we started our journey (emphasis on started – we were still figuring it out!). We got a photographer to take pictures for ₦300 and turned our guest bedroom into our HQ. Our first curated gift basket was on Instagram with a hope to make at least one sale.
And then, the unthinkable happened! A major company called, asking for 50 of what we had posted. I was over the moon (and maybe a little crazy!), screaming, crying, and marveling at how God had turned my very little dream into a reality. And just like that, our business took off! We haven’t looked back since, and it’s been an incredible adventure!”
